Just a minor note: My son was tested for iron the other day at the docs. It was perfect! He is 100% vegan too!
He's vegan & he doesn't seem to be bothered by wheat, so he and his father (also not bothered)do eat some sausages by Field Roast from time to time. He eats a TON of fruits and veggies per day too. If I buy a box organic strawberries, I find that is GONE in 1/2 a day. The three of us eat them right up. So if we want any left several boxes have to be purchased. Strawberries have iron in them, BTW.
We will be switching docs next March. So then I will have the full blood workup done. We know a Doc that my husband has seen since he was younger. So we will be going to see him, very soon. Since he is from India, he has a lot of more experience with veggy people than Docs who treat patients who eat the SAD diet tend to do.
In fact, the doc lady who saw us kept harping on me to feed my kids Fish. Why didn't we at least eat that? Why didn't we like it? She smacked her lips, and went MMMMM it's sooo yummy. I must have a weak stomach. Cause I wanted to excuse myself. It grossed me out so much. Sorry to say this, but it does. Seriously, it's hork food.
Take a look at how polluted the waterways are.. then ask yourself if you should be ingesting that?? Not even going to bring up the moral side of things. Just go with the pollution levels first, that's certainly enough for me.

(BTW: Our Doc (that we will be seeing in March) is in Worcester. So if nearby folks want his name, let me know.) He's not a pedictrician, he's a Family Practice type doctor, so kids have to be aged 6 to see him.

Lazy Blogger..

Ever since getting this dehydrator, that I named "Vlad" for my Birthday, I've been a lazy blogger. But I've also been a busy chef around here. Well reading mostly. I'm on the hunt for recipes for bars & fruit and such for my dehydrator to "suck" the moisture out of. It's really taking up a lot of my time, the reading. Not much time for writing lately. I made some banana chips, apple chips, and strawberries the other day. I know they tasted good, altho, I didn't get many. The kids took off with them, and left me with the empty machine. I had to steal back a couple so I could see if they were any good. Apparently, they are good & the kids enjoyed them, so did my dogs. They liked the apple chips the best. I also made some fruit leathers. Not bad at all, tho I think I'd mix it up with several different fruits next time.
If anyone has recipes to share, especially, for dehydrator bars. Love to see them!
Thanks for stopping by!! Heather :)
